FMOC-4-AMINOBUTANOIC ACID - Introduction
4-(Fluorenylmethoxycarbonylamino) butyric acid, chemical formula C16H17NO3, also known as Fmoc-aminobutyric acid, is a commonly used protecting group in organic synthesis. It has the following properties:
1. Appearance: white or almost white crystalline powder.
2. Solubility: Good solubility in common organic solvents such as dimethylformamide (DMF), dichloromethane (DCM) and diphenyl ether.
3. Stability: It has good thermal stability and can withstand certain high temperature conditions during the synthesis process.
4. Reactivity: It can be esterified by the carboxyl group of the amino acid and the hydroxyl group on the fluorene group to introduce it into the target molecule.
The compound is mainly used for protecting hydroxyl groups in peptide synthesis. It can protect the hydroxyl group in the amino acid from being reacted in order to further synthesize the target peptide chain. At the end of the synthesis process, the Fmoc protecting group can be removed by basic conditions to give the free amino acid.
The method for preparing Fmoc-aminobutyric acid is mainly obtained by reacting fluorenyl chloroformate with butoxyamine.
